Tony is a German-Sudanese cinematographer & Steadicam operator and has been working heart and soul in the film industry for over 24 years. With the strong belief that pictures can speak louder than a thousand words, he always strives to create a unique visual language for each story and project.
In the commercial film business he has worked e.g. with directors Pascal Heiduk, Esteban, Renato „RENO!“ Nowakovic, Daniel „Rakete“ Siegel, Martin D`Costa, Peter Sillen and Thomas Brettschneider for brands such as Toyota, BMW, Volkswagen, P&G, Gillette, Mint&Berry, Cortal Consors, Apple, and many more.
Most recently, he shot the first season of the mini-series MUSPILLI for ARD in collaboration with director Nahuel Lopez.
After starting his career in 1996, he worked as a photo assistant, clapper loader, 2nd AC, 1st AC and lighting technician and laid the foundation for his career as a Director of Photography with a high level of technical understanding. In 2005 he graduated from the University of Applied Science with a diploma in cinematography and started working as a DoP.
Tony is based in Hamburg, Germany, speaks german and english and is a member of the German Society of Cinematographers BVK and host of the BVK CineTalk Podcast.
Tony ist Kameramann mit deutsch-sudanesischen Wurzeln und mit Leib und Seele seit über 24 Jahren in der Filmindustrie tätig. Mit der Überzeugung, dass Bilder mehr sagen können als tausend Worte, ist er immer bestrebt eine einzigartige visuelle Sprache für jede Geschichte und jedes Projekt zu schaffen.
In der Werbefilmbranche arbeitete er in den letzen Jahren u.a. mit den Regisseuren Pascal Heiduk, Esteban, Renato „RENO!“ Nowakovic, Daniel „Rakete“ Siegel, Martin D`Costa, Peter Sillen und Thomas Brettschneider für Marken wie Toyota, BMW, Volkswagen, P&G, Gillette, Mint&Berry, Cortal Consors, Apple, und viele andere mehr.
Zuletzt drehte er in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Regisseur Nahuel Lopez die erste Staffel der Mini-Serie MUSPILLI für die ARD.
Nach dem Start seiner Karriere 1996 arbeitete er als Fotoassistent, Clapper Loader, 2nd AC, 1st AC und Beleuchter und legte mit hohem technischen Verständnis den Grundstein für seine gestalterische Karriere als Bildgestalter. Im Jahr 2005 schloss er sein Kamerastudium bei Prof. Adolf Winkelmann an der University of Applied Science in Dortmund mit Diplom ab und begann als DoP zu arbeiten.
Tony lebt in Hamburg, spricht Deutsch und Englisch und ist Mitglied im Berufsverband Kinematografie BVK für den er seit 2023 den BVK CineTalk Podcast produziert.
